As the body of the Lord Jesus was cared for by Saints Joseph and Nicodemos and the Myrrhbearing women - washed, anointed, clothed and placed with prayer into a tomb, so Orthodox Christians have traditionally buried their loved ones.
The Peace Giving Myrrhbearers continue the ancient traditions of the Orthodox regarding the death and burial of those in the Churchand grants them a wider variety of choices when planning for their departure.
There is, therefore, O Lord, no death unto thy servants, when we go forth from the body and come unto thee, our God, but a change from things most sorrowful unto things most good and most sweet, and rest and joy.

With the souls of the righteous that have finished their course, give rest, O Savior, to the souls of Thy servants, preserving them in the blessed life which is with Thee, O Lover of mankind.

In the place of Thy rest, O Lord, where all Thy Saints repose, give rest also to the souls of Thy servants, for Thou alone art the Lover of Mankind

Thou art the God Who descended into hades and loosed the chains of the captives; do Thou Thyself give rest also to the souls of Thy servants.
