Why Prepare?
"To the Christian, all of life is preparation for death, our entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Practical, and legal preparations must be considered to ease our passing for our loved ones.
Every heartbeat is a gift from God. We need to be prepared at all times. Not taking care of your estate planning and paperwork now will cause unnecessary stress on your loved ones at the worst possible time."
Deacon Mark Barna
Here is a list of Necessary Documents you should put together to prepare for the inevitable:
-
Durable Power of Attorney
-
Durable Health Care Power of Attorney
-
Do Not Resuscitate order (DNR) as appropriate
-
Advance Directive for Funeral Care
-
Death Care Power of Attorney
-
Burial and Funeral Care Instructions
-
Obituary information sheet (optional)
-
-
Last Will and Testament
Have these papers on file in any facility that you enter, and distribute to family and friends, especially the named executor tor of your Will, and put on file at your Church for your Priest or Myrrhbearing Ministry to access.
If you are employing the Myrrhbearers to take care of your needs, include a signed and notarized document expressly forbidding the transportaion of your body from a hospital morgue to a funeral home. Several morgues and coroners have pre-arrangements with particular funeral homes to transport bodies - this can incur an expense of up to $700 - which is avoidable if you have access to your Church Myrrhbearing Ministry.
