On May 9, 2021 some parishioners of St. John the Forerunner took a stroll to the Cedar Park Cemetery, located just down the street from our Church. The Sunday following Pascha is known as St. Thomas Sunday and it is the custom for some Orthodox Christians to visit cemeteries on this day and to sing "Christ is Risen" to the departed laid to rest there.
St. John's currently has two parishioners resting in this cemetery - we visited the graves of Laverne Hollapeter and Katie Bays. It was a very joyful time together and we hope this will become a beloved tradition for St. John's parishioners in coming years.
